Luffy the cat making good progress on his journey to recovery

The Okanagan Humane Society says a cat rescued in Spallumcheen is recovering after being found in extremely poor condition.

The Okanagan Humane Society (OHS) issued a post seeking the public’s help to find his owner. Luffy was found in Spallumcheen in extremely poor condition and brought in for urgent care. He is an older neutered male, estimated to be eight to 10 years old, with no microchip or tattoo.

Luffy arrived severely underweight, with heavy matting, an ear infection, a chipped tooth and significant neglect of his hind end. Diagnostics revealed fluid in his abdomen and bloodwork confirmed he is diabetic.

“Thanks to the loving hands and compassionate care at our veterinary partners at Spall and Harvey Animal Hospital, his glucose levels have stabilized and he’s starting to feel like himself again,” the OHS said.

The perky, purring and friendly cat is now soaking up attention as if he knows he is finally safe.

“Luffy has had his much-needed ‘spa day’ and is now clean, comfortable, and even sporting a very cute sweater to keep warm.”

He will move into OHS foster care this week as he continues to recover and show his will to live.

“We’re so happy to share that Luffy is doing better.”
