City of Vernon moving transit forward: fare review update

Transit users in Vernon may pay lower fares in the future.

The City of Vernon is participating in a B.C. Transit-led fare review in collaboration with regional partners, including the Regional District of North Okanagan and the District of Coldstream.

The city said the review will assess the current transit fare structure and explore potential updates, with a focus on affordability, ridership, revenue sustainability and fare design.

Discussions will also take place with government partners about the possibility of free transit for youth.

Administration will report to council in the summer, the city said. Implementation is anticipated in April 2027, subject to partner approval.
