City of Vernon to improve local roads this summer

The City of Vernon is preparing to improve local roads through its annual Road Rehabilitation Program, with the goal of creating safer, smoother and more reliable travel throughout the community.

This year, the city will invest $1.8 million to rehabilitate about 4.4 lane-kilometres of roadway across the community.

Construction is underway and will continue through September.

Road rehabilitation work typically takes place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., although some projects may require overnight work to reduce disruptions to traffic and nearby businesses.

Rehabilitation work on 31 Street has been completed, with seven additional projects planned.

The city noted construction schedules are subject to change because of weather conditions, contractor availability and other factors.
