No injuries following major structure fire in Vernon

Vernon Fire Rescue Services remained at the scene of a fire at Vernon Alliance Church on Tuesday as an investigation into the cause continued.

Firefighters responded to the structure fire in the 2600 block of 43rd Avenue on Monday, Aug. 31.

The City of Vernon said firefighters and RCMP remained at the scene Tuesday to monitor conditions and address hot spots.

The cause of the fire had not been determined and no injuries were reported.

The city said residents could expect to see smoke and steam throughout the day as crews monitored conditions.

“The firewall performed as intended and helped limit the spread of the fire, reducing damage to the sanctuary,” the City said.

The city said no further updates were expected unless conditions changed significantly.
