VJH surpasses goal of $600k in Charity Classic

The Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation’s Charity Classic has broken another fundraising record, raising more than $600,000 for medical equipment.

The 17th annual golf tournament was held at Predator Ridge Resort on Sunday, Aug. 23.

Funds raised will support the purchase of equipment for Vernon Jubilee Hospital, including vital signs machines and a state-of-the-art orthopedic surgery table.

“With six orthopedic surgeons performing over 600 hip surgeries annually, this advanced table enables less invasive routine procedures, like total hip replacements, as well as urgent, life-saving hip and femur fracture surgeries,” the foundation said.

The foundation said medical teams are asked each year what equipment would have the biggest impact on patient care. This year, an orthopedic surgery table was among the equipment identified.

Other equipment purchased through the fundraiser includes a Neoprobe Gamma Detection System to help locate cancerous tissue during surgery, a Masimo SedLine system to monitor brain activity and anesthesia levels, oxygen concentrators and mobility aids.

The equipment needs are highlighted through the tournament’s Fund-A-Need program, where attendees pledge money directly toward equipment for Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

The Charity Classic has raised more than $4.9 million for local health care over the past 17 years.
