RCMP seeking public assistance following suspected arson in Vernon

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP say a suspicious fire in Coldstream early this morning is believed to be arson.

Frontline officers were patrolling the 11000 block of Kal Lake Road at approximately 3:30 a.m. on March 31 when they found an SUV on fire.

Officers used fire extinguishers from their vehicles to contain the blaze until the Coldstream Fire Department arrived and put it out. Police said four vehicles were vandalized, two of which sustained fire damage.

“The cause of the fire has not been determined; however, evidence at the scene indicates it was intentionally set,” Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said.

“We’re asking residents in the area who have cameras to check their video between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. this morning.  If you find anything suspicious, please give us a call.”

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
