North Okanagan Hospice Society Hike for Hospice set for next week

The North Okanagan Hospice Society is welcoming the community to take part in its annual Hike for Hospice on Sunday, May 3, at Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park.

This year’s theme is “Colour in Motion,” encouraging participants to dress in their brightest colours and celebrate community and compassionate care.

Hike for Hospice is a national event held in communities across Canada, bringing people together to raise awareness and funds for hospice and palliative care services.

Locally, the event supports North Okanagan Hospice Society programs that provide compassionate end-of-life care, grief support and services to individuals and families in the North Okanagan.

The society said participants can choose from a variety of trail options suitable for all ages and abilities.

“Whether walking in honour or in memory of a loved one, the event offers a meaningful way to connect and give back,” the statement said.

Megan Cox, executive director of the North Okanagan Hospice Society, said the team is excited to bring the community together again for Hike for Hospice.

“This event is a beautiful reminder of the power of community coming together for a shared purpose to support compassionate care for those who need it most.”

Registration is now open and all are encouraged to sign up. The event is scheduled for May 3.
