Vernon community society starting to plan for Canada Day celebration

Vernon city council approved a request from the Vernon-Okanagan Inspired Community Events Society, known as VOICE, for support in hosting a Canada Day celebration.

VOICE outlined proposed activities, budget considerations and a request for city support to help deliver a community-focused event.

The group said the event aims to foster community engagement and encourage participation from local organizations and businesses.

The society plans to host a free, community-based event featuring a Fruit Fest, art activities and musical performances. Other activities include bouncy castles, mini golf, an artisan market, a food truck garden and a variety of community booths.

Key requests included in-kind support such as equipment, site access, operational assistance, traffic control and permits, all supported by appropriate insurance.

The presentation said VOICE is working to raise awareness about the Canada Day celebration and hopes local businesses and organizations will participate in the event.
