City of Vernon inviting residents to spend more time outside in light of GoByBike Week

The City of Vernon is inviting residents to get outside and enjoy the fresh air during Spring GoByBike Week 2026, starting next weekend.

GoByBike Week is a provincewide celebration of active transportation that encourages people to swap short vehicle trips for biking, scootering, skateboarding, rollerblading or other small-wheeled forms of transportation.

The city said people of all ages are encouraged to try walking or spending more time outside when running errands, going to school or commuting to work

With Vernon’s growing network of multi-use paths, bike lanes and neighbourhood connections, GoByBike Week is a way for residents to discover new routes, spend time outdoors and experience the city from a different perspective.

Starting May 30, the city and community partners will host a variety of local events and activities, including a kickoff celebration at the Polson Artisan Market and Community Ride, social bike rides, celebration stations and bike-themed community activities.

Participants can register individually or as part of a team, log their rides throughout the week and become eligible for local and provincial prizes through GoByBike B.C.

Spring GoByBike Week supports the city’s ongoing efforts to encourage active transportation, create healthier communities and make it easier for residents to choose sustainable ways to move around the city.
