Lakeview Pool opens tomorrow with extended summer hours

The Lakeview Pool will kick off the outdoor swim season Thursday, while Lavington Pool is expected to open later in July pending mechanical repairs.

The City of Vernon said expanded hours at Lakeview Pool have been implemented following community feedback. From June 26 to Aug. 1, the pool will remain open until 8 p.m. on weekdays, giving families and individuals more flexibility to enjoy the water.

Visitors can expect flexible programming on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as opportunities for private bookings, including weekend birthday party time slots.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, public swimming is available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, public swimming is available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with shared use from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Saturdays and Sundays, public swimming is offered from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Birthday party bookings are available from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The city said hours will be adjusted after Aug. 1 to reflect seasonal daylight and demand.

In addition to the extended pool hours, a snack shack will offer concession items including frozen treats, candy, chips and bottled water.

Lakeview Pool remains a popular summer destination, with about 14,000 visits recorded in July and August last year, including several days when the facility reached capacity.

The city said both community pools will be filled in accordance with Regional District of North Okanagan regulations under Stage 3 water restrictions.
