New trail map showcasing Vernon as Trails Capital of B.C.

Tourism Vernon has launched a new trail map designed to help residents and visitors explore more than 500 kilometres of trails throughout Greater Vernon.

The free map was developed by Tourism Vernon and is operated by the City of Vernon in partnership with the Regional District of North Okanagan.

The map showcases hiking, mountain biking, walking and multi-use trails across the region.

It is intended to support the ongoing Trails Capital of B.C. initiative by making it easier for people to explore outdoor recreation throughout Greater Vernon.

The new printed map complements Tourism Vernon’s interactive trail map,

giving residents and visitors easy access to trail information and trip-planning resources.

“It’s easy to take these experiences for granted when they’re right outside your front door,” Tourism Vernon manager Torrie Silverthorn said. “One day you can be walking along the lake, and the next you can be exploring alpine meadows or world-class singletrack through deep forest.”

She added that there is a trail for every walk of life.

“Whether you’re looking to explore somewhere new or show off your favourite local spots, our new printed and interactive trail maps make it easy to get out and explore,” she said.

Tourism Vernon is encouraging residents to explore somewhere new.

Free printed trail maps are available through Tourism Vernon’s Mobile Visitor Services program, at the Community Services Building, Vernon City Hall and select partner businesses throughout the region.

Residents and visitors can also explore the region’s trail network through the interactive trail map available at trails.tourismvernon.com.
