Community Foundation North Okanagan (CFNO) has established the Wildfire Response 2026 Fund to collect donations for relief and recovery, the foundation said.
At this stage of the wildfire crisis, monetary donations rather than goods or services are what the foundation said communities need most
“They give evacuees, local organizations, and Indigenous leadership the flexibility to direct support to where it’s needed most, as those needs continue to evolve throughout the season,” the CFNO said in its statement.
Leanne Hammond, executive director of CFNO said her team has been watching this fire with heavy hearts.
“Our thoughts are with everyone who has lost a home. Want to make sure there’s a trusted place for our community’s generosity to land, now and through the long recovery ahead,” she said.
Steve Brandner, board chair of the CFNO said his thoughts are with everyone whose lives have been changed due to the fire.
“In moments like this, communities are defined by how they come together to support one another,” he said. “This fund provides a way for people to make a direct difference close to home, helping ensure that support reaches North Okanagan families and communities as needs emerge and recovery begins.”
The foundation said donations too the Wildfire Response 2026 Fund will be distributed locally in the coming months to support immediate relief and long-term rebuilding.
