Construction on the Vernon Downtown Parkade begins Monday, Aug. 17.
The City of Vernon said crews will complete repairs and maintenance to extend the life of the parkade, including concrete and stairwell repairs and waterproofing.
The project is funded through the Growing Communities Fund, Casino Fund and Infrastructure Reserve.
The parkade will remain open throughout construction, with sections of the parking area temporarily closed as work progresses. Construction will be completed in phases to maintain parking and access where possible.
The city said users can expect temporary parking and access restrictions in active work areas, along with construction noise, dust and equipment activity.
One stairwell will be closed at a time while the other remains open. The elevator will remain available throughout construction.
Crews are scheduled to work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday. Some work may also take place on weekends when the parkade is closed to regular operations to minimize disruption.
Construction is expected to continue through the fall.
