Vernon’s newest McDonald’s set to open Thursday

Vernon’s newest McDonald’s restaurant is set to open its doors Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 a.m.

Local McDonald’s Canada franchisee Chris Erickson said his team is excited to welcome customers to the new restaurant at 1601 15th St.

“Vernon is just a fantastic place to do business and the employee base is outstanding,” he said. “I really enjoy doing business here.”

The new restaurant will feature a modern dining room and a drive-thru designed for guests to enjoy their McDonald’s favourites while dining in or on the go. The kitchen has also been outfitted with the latest equipment.
“There’s a tremendous amount of equipment in these restaurants,” he said. “We really run two kitchens, one for beverages and desserts, and then one for food prep as well.”
Erickson has been tied to the community, saying the brand is always changing with different trends. “I’m really proud of the community involvement with Vernon Minor Soccer and minor hockey, and the arts as well,” he said. “The brand is an evolving brand and they have been a really good partner.”
On Wednesday night, Erickson is hosting Family and Friends Night at the restaurant. The newly elected council may make an appearance and give local dignitaries a first look at what the new McDonald’s will look like.
“The staff getting in here the last couple of days have been really excited to see the new layout,” he said.
The grand opening for the McDonald’s will be Thursday, Oct. 22 at 6 a.m.
