RDNO reminds pet owners to keep furry friends safe this Halloween

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) is providing safety tips on how to keep pets safe on Halloween night.

The RDNO is reminding pet owners that dogs should not ingest any treats, as chocolate, xylitol and candy wrappers can be dangerous.

For those giving out candy, residents are advised to watch the door, as trick-or-treaters mean frequent door openings. Therefore, pups should be secure to avoid escape.

The RDNO also encouraged pet owners to ensure their dog is wearing its current license and ID tags.

Pet owners can call RDNO Dog Control at 250-541-3647 if they need assistance.
