Enderby pool makes a splash at soft opening

The Enderby Outdoor Pool had a successful soft opening this week.

On Thursday, June 18, the pool officially welcomed its first swimmers of the summer.

The City of Enderby said the new pool facility is receiving “rave” feedback from early visitors. The pool accommodates people of all ages and abilities, inviting visitors to enjoy its lazy river, leisure pool and beach-entry area.

In addition to these features, the new outdoor pool includes dedicated lap lanes and a modern change building.

Enderby’s new outdoor pool was developed as a joint project between the city and Electoral Area F of the Regional District of North Okanagan. Funding was provided by the federal and provincial governments.

The Enderby and District Lions Club donated toward the upcoming spray features, while Enderby Legion Branch No. 98 provided a donation dedicated to the pool’s accessibility features.

The public is asked for extra patience as staff learn how to provide a safe and fun space for everyone.

Sheryl Hay of Enderby and District Recreation Services said staff and lifeguards are eager to welcome everyone back to the water.

“We appreciate the community’s support as our team gets to know the unique dynamics of this facility and works hard to deliver safe, high-quality public swimming and recreation programs for all ages,” she said.

Enderby Mayor Huck Galbraith said he is thrilled to take a dip himself and share the new facility with the community.

“This pool will be a vibrant gathering place where families will build memories for generations to come,” he said. “It shows what we can achieve through regional cooperation, senior government investment, and the generosity of our local service clubs like the Lions and the Legion.”

Allysa Hopkins, chair of the Enderby and District Services Commission and director of Area F, called the project a “spectacular win” for the region.

“Seeing the pool come to life just in time for the heat of the summer makes it all the more special,” she said. “From young families to aquafit participants, adults and seniors, the new pool will create a special experience that includes everybody.”

While the pool is making a splash, the city said some facility components are still in the final stages of commissioning, including the waterslide, two spray features, bubbler bench and hot tub.

Those amenities will open over the next several weeks.

A grand opening for the new Enderby Outdoor Pool will be announced in the near future.
