Vernon businesses share challenges and opportunities during Small Business Week

Vernon business owners had an opportunity to discuss challenges, successes and opportunities for growth with city representatives during Small Business Week.

The City of Vernon’s economic development team joined representatives from several municipal departments and community organizations for its Business Walks initiative on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

More than a dozen groups of two to three participants visited businesses in downtown Vernon, Alexis Park, Silver Star Gateway, Village Green Mall and other commercial areas.

The city said the visits provided an opportunity for face-to-face discussions about the local economy, employment, business confidence and challenges facing business owners.

The initiative is part of Vernon’s ongoing efforts to support existing businesses and encourage expansion.

The city’s economic development team will review the information collected to identify common concerns, emerging opportunities and businesses that could benefit from additional support.
